Managing Phosphorus and Potassium On Soybean By Soil Test Level
eKonomics News Team
Soybean phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) nutrition is sometimes an afterthought in a farmer’s nutrient budget and fertilizer plan. Not providing adequate nutrition can cost farmers money, even with softer commodity prices. And soybeans need the same attention to fertility has does corn.
This presentation by Dr. Robert Mullen, Director of Agronomy at Nutrien, addresses P and K behavior in soil, importance of routine soil sampling, provide tips for making fertilizer decisions, and make an economic argument for good soybean nutrition. The presentation will also touch on the 4Rs and how management can provide adequate nutrition while also keep nutrients on the landscape for crops and out of surface waters.
